Sterilization by laparoscopy
(or laparoscopic sterilization) – minimally invasive surgery for your pet’s well-being
At our veterinary practice, we offer laparoscopic sterilization (also known as laparoscopic sterilization), a minimally invasive surgical technique that allows your pet to be sterilized in the most comfortable and safe conditions possible.
This innovative method is particularly recommended for medium and large dogs (weighing over 10 kg).
It involves making three small incisions: one for the endoscopic camera and two for the surgical instruments, allowing the procedure to be performed without the need for a large abdominal incision.
Thanks to this less traumatic approach, postoperative pain is significantly reduced, healing is faster, and your pet’s recovery is greatly facilitated.
Laparoscopic sterilization offers many advantages:
- Less pain after the operation
- Lower risk of infection
- A minimal, cosmetic scar
- A quicker return to normal life

This minimally invasive surgery can also be performed on smaller animals (small dogs and cats). However, for these sizes, the difference with conventional sterilization is less pronounced, as the incisions required are already very small. We can of course offer laparoscopic sterilization for these animals as well if you wish, but it is less essential.
By choosing laparoscopic sterilization, you are opting for a gentler and more comfortable veterinary surgery for your four-legged friend.
The usual technique is to remove only the ovaries. In rare cases, mainly when the dog undergoing surgery is elderly, it may be necessary to remove the uterus as well as the ovaries, which incurs an additional cost detailed in the table below. This can also be done on younger dogs if the owner specifically requests it.
